Near sundown, in Monument Valley, Kesel captured this stunning image of Mitten Butte. Careful timing and exposure choices allowed Kesel to capture the warmth and texture of the red rock structure without losing the detail of the high desert plant life in the foreground. Kesel’s timing couldn’t have been better. The sky behind Mitten Butte has an unusual character, almost as if it were painted by an artist after the fact.
