Kesel captured this image of the Colorado River below the Glenn Canyon Dam at Lake Powell at daybreak. The brief window of opportunity was only about 10 minutes long. He waited until there was enough light to highlight the large island in the center of the waterway and bring out the deep blue of the water. Shortly after Kesel snapped the shutter the sun was at such an angle that it created an unsightly band of red on the inside of the canyon wall. |
